Jonah 3: God’s Enemies

In the third chapter of Jonah, God extends the same mercy to Nineveh, as he extended to unbelieving sailors in chapter 1 & the wayward prophet Jonah himself in chapter 2. But while Jonah was grateful for God’s mercy to himself, he was angry at God’s mercy to his enemies. As we consider what it means to truly love our enemies, we dive (Jonah pun intended) into both God’s justice and mercy, see how both are good news, and see how Jesus is the culmination of both… for us and for whoever “those people” are in our minds, who we deem undeserving.
