Genesis 11-12: Blessing - Abram & Sarai

After so many chapters of seeing a pattern of sin, brokenness, and disobedience, the end of Genesis 11 and start of Genesis 12 finally offer some relief. We see that Abram and Sarai are ordinary and imperfect people, and thatGod sends on an extraordinary mission. We also see that God blesses this family, in order that they may be a blessing to others. There is encouragement in that God still does the same thing with and through people today — and also that all three themes culminate in Jesus: he was an ordinary man, the fulfillment of the most extraordinary mission, and the apex of God’s blessing.
